Are you ready for a challenge? Want to get fit?  Want to run for the first time or get back into running?

FundRuns and PACE Running Academy are pleased to offer a Couch to 5k training program this spring, culminating at the Runstock 5k on May 19 at Lake of the Ozarks State Park.

This 9 week structured plan will begin on Tuesday, March 21 and meet weekly through May 16.  Group meetings will be held from 5:30-6:30pm at the Tri-County YMCA, 950 Airport Rd, Osage Beach, MO. In addition to group meetings, participants will be expected to train alone (or with others) two additional days per week. A training plan will be provided.

Weekly meetings will include the scheduled training activity and informational sessions on a variety of running related subjects, including:

  • Dynamic Warm-Ups (Before Running)
  • Plyometric Exercises (After Running)
  • Strength Training/Core Work/Yoga (On Non-Running Days)
  • Running Gear
    — Activity Tracker
    — Shoes (Cushion vs. Support)
    — Socks
    — Wicking Shirts
    — Running Pants/Shorts w/Pockets
  • Nutrition & Hydration
  • Mindset/Breathing/Mantras
  • Running Form
  • Race Day Etiquette

Spearheading the program is Dan Beck of Lake Ozark. Dan ran his first marathon in 2005 shortly after he turned 50 — And after that first marathon, he was hooked on running! Since then he’s run 39 full marathons & over 100 half-marathons! Favorites include Boston, Rome, Paris, Twin Cities, & Grandma’s (Duluth, MN).

“Before my knee issues, I have to admit that I was probably “addicted’ to running — I absolutely love to run and I love the way I feel after I run — Hopefully I can pass some of my enthusiasm for running onto our Couch to 5K participants.” said Dan.
After completing all the requirements to earn a CERTIFIED ADULT DISTANCE RUNNING COACH designation, Dan created PACE RUNNING ACADEMY.

Participants will be eligible for a prize drawing each week at group meetings and will receive 20% off their Runstock 5k registration.

There is also a Facebook group for members to communicate with one another.

This program is free and provided by FundRuns PACE Running Academy, and the Tri-County YMCA.
